WA State Office of the Insurance Commissioner
We have heard from about 180 Washington consumers who are having problems with their 2020 health insurance purchased from Premera and Lifewise. This is twice as many complaints as we received about the same plans last year.
Jesse Jones with KIRO TV recently interviewed Todd Dixon, our Deputy Commissioner for Consumer Protection, about one woman’s pharmacy claim.
The OIC and the state Health Benefit Exchange estimate that about 2,000 Washington consumers are affected.
Problems they’ve encountered include not being able to pay their premiums and the insurers’ websites not working. Medical providers are also having trouble verifying that patients are covered.
We are working directly with the Exchange and the insurers to help consumers access their benefits.
If you are experiencing trouble, please let us know right away so we can add you to the list of accounts that need to be addressed.
