The total number of COVID-19 cases in the United States is now 85,356, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] reports, the total number of deaths, 1,245.

Cases have now been identified in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands.

CDC investigators conclude that of the 85,356 cases, 712 were travel-related and 1,326 were due to close contact with an infected person. The remaining cases are under investigation.
