6,000 have died of COVID-19 in Washington state, Department of Health reports

The number of people who have died of COVID-19 in Washington state has reached 6,000, the Washington State Department of Health reports.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, there have been more than 450,000 cases in the state. More than 25,000 have been hospitalized.

With 69.8% of state residents age 16 and older having received at least one dose of the vaccine, the state has almost reached its 70% vaccination target.
