Measles remains a growing concern in Washington as U.S. surpasses 1,100 cases in 2026
Measles is highly contagious and spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, breathes, or talks. The virus can stay in the air for up to two hours, meaning people can get infected even after a sick person has left the area.
Can a psychedelic-induced mystical experience really improve your mental health?
Mystics once spent years meditating in caves in search of transcendence. Today, a growing number of people believe something similar can be reached in a single afternoon with the help of a psychedelic drug. Swallow a capsule of psilocybin or take a carefully supervised dose of LSD and you may encounter what many describe as one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives. Modern clinical trials appear to support this.
How a Croatian Lab Spawned a Buzzy Peptide Now Popular With MAHA
BPC-157 is a kind of chemical called a peptide, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration treats it and some other peptides as unapproved drugs — going so far in 2023 as to explicitly prohibit compounding pharmacies from supplying BPC-157 to patients. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has more recently signaled a desire to loosen restrictions on experimental medical treatments, including unapproved peptides like BPC-157.
New variant of the flu virus is driving surge of cases across the US and Canada
In early January, New York state recorded the highest number of flu cases in a single week on record. Several other states, such as Colorado, are also experiencing record flu levels, and 44 out of 55 states and other jurisdictions are reporting high or very high flu activity, according to the CDC.
States go their own way as RFK Jr. shifts federal vaccine policy
Many states are setting up their own advisory committees or task forces to make vaccine recommendations. In many states, the guidelines are tied to school vaccination requirements, insurance coverage of vaccinations and rules allowing pharmacists to give vaccinations.
RFK Jr. guts the US childhood vaccine schedule despite its decades-long safety record
Major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, have said that they will continue recommending the full complement of childhood vaccines. Several states, including California, New York, Illinois and Washington state, will follow established guidelines rather than the new federal recommendations, creating a patchwork where children’s protection depends on where they live.
West Coast Health Departments Reject CDC’s New Vaccine Guidance
The CDC’s decision did not follow established procedure for vaccine policy recommendations and threatens an increase in vaccine-preventable diseases in children nationwide, the West Coast Health Alliance argues.
The United States CDC has abandoned science in its new advice about vaccines and autism

Taking a drug like Ozempic? What you need to know about risks of suicidal thoughts and contraception failure
Australian health authorities recommend that if you’re taking GLP-1 medicines, you should tell your doctor if you experience new or worsening depression, suicidal thoughts, or any unusual changes in mood or behaviour.
Making GLP-1 weight loss drugs cheaper isn’t enough to address America’s obesity problem – here’s why
Most patients with obesity and related health problems will likely need to use these medications indefinitely. According to emerging research, people who stop taking them typically regain the weight they lost. Realistically, very few people who take GLP-1 drugs can maintain their weight loss with lifestyle changes alone.
Kennedy Sharpens Vaccine Attacks, Without Scientific Backing
Kennedy, a longtime anti-vaccine activist before seeking public office, claims that aluminum adjuvants are neurotoxic and tied to autism, asthma, autoimmune disease, and food allergies. But science and medicine advances a different view
Canada loses its official ‘measles-free’ status – and the US will follow soon, as vaccination rates fall
The resurgence of measles in Canada after decades with very low numbers of cases is not an isolated problem. The U.S. has also had large outbreaks of measles this year, and it will likely soon lose its measles-free designation as well.
The loss of measles elimination status is a symptom of a deeper issue: declining trust in public messaging about science and health, which has led to decreased vaccination rates and growing vulnerability to vaccine-preventable diseases.
